Before your visit....

Etiquette:

  • Please arrive 5 mins prior to your appointment as you might need to complete a medical form.

  • In order to carry out your treatment it’s important we know your medical history along with your current medications so please bring these with you otherwise we might not be able to treat you *

  • Please note that some treatments will incur a pre-payment

  • Payment for appointments can be made online (prior to your appointment), or by cash / card at the surgery.

  • Appointments vary in duration so please ensure you have allocated enough time for your parking.

*Why do you need to know my current medications and medical history?

For us, knowing your medical history is vital. During your treatment we use number of medicaments which could impact your body or react with your health/medications that you are currently taking. For example, we might need to administer local anaesthetic for a nerve block to carry out a treatment. This could be harmful to people with certain medical conditions (impaired cardiac conduction or impaired respiratory function) or who are taking certain medications such as if you are on blood thinning medication which makes you more prone to bleeding.

On some occasions we might need to supply antibiotics or other drugs dependant on a condition.

You could have diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, heart or lung issues that restrict your lower leg circulation resulting in poor healing and more susceptible to leg ulcers and infections.

These are just some examples of questions we might ask before we treat you.

Please note your medical notes are private and confidential and we never share any information about you unless discussed with you (for example as referrals to your GP). Refusal to fill out a medical questionnaire or supply current medication names/dosages will incur full appointment payment without your appointment being carried out.

Sterelising instruments is one of many tasks performed daily at Footsteps. Re-usable instruments are cleaned and placed in an autoclave to be sterilised.

During sterilisation the temperature in the autoclave chamber reaches between 134 -137ºC to kill all microorganisms and spores. The sterilisation cycle takes about 40 minutes and the integral printer records the cycle and successful sterilisation . All autoclave machines have to be calibrated annually.

A clean and sterile environment is a must!
